Yes, we survived the ice storm. Fortunately we didn't lose power for a great deal of time. There are many people here who are still without power today. We did lose cable TV, but we can survive without that.

Our trees took a real beating. Many big branches are lying in our front yard. We have two huge trees in the front. We have been advised not to even try cleaning up until all of the ice melts and falls down. Huge chunks were falling all day today. It would be just too dangerous to try anything until it's gone.

It was eerie to hear the sounds of branches cracking in the night all over town. And even stranger to hear the ice falling all day. We got at least two-three inches of ice coating everything. No school for three days! That's good and bad. I have enjoyed my time off, but I don't get paid for them.

Rachel actually said she was disappointed to not have school! She is really looking forward to going back on Monday. I never thought I'd hear her say that!

My husband is now home with the flu. It has now made the rounds in this house. It's icy outside. We are all hoping for a day off from school/work tomorrow, but we aren't counting on it.

Useless fact for the day. With the Winter Olympics coming up, I'll tell you the Americans with the most gold medals in the Winter Games. It's a tie between Bonnie Blair and Eric Heiden with 5 each for speed skating.

Man, I haven't blogged for a few days. I was so tired after my little bout with the flu. I went back to work on Thursday and Friday, but I was totally wiped out by the time I got home. I had to put in extra hours to make up for the holiday on Monday, so that didn't help.

We went to see Lord of the Rings on Saturday. What can I say? It was awesome! I want to go see it again! I was a little disappointed at the changes that were made and some of the things that were left out, but all in all I thought it was a fabulous movie. So did my hubby. He wants to go see it again. We also went to the mall.

Sunday we did yard work, a little house work and washed the cars. I'm tired all over again! I was so tired on the way home from work today. I stopped at the post office to get some stamps and I backed up into a stop sign. I felt like a total idiot. We now have a small dent and scratch in the back bumper of our new car. Shit! My husband was so sweet about it. Now I guess we have to get it fixed. More $$$ down the drain due to my stupidity.
